In Oddapy, every item you create under a module—such as a goal, note, shopping list, or memory—is called an Asset. For example, if you create a "Documents" item named Personal Documents to store legal files, then Personal Documents becomes an Asset. Assets are the foundation of how information is stored and managed in Oddapy. While each module may include its own unique fields, all assets share a common structure with a few standard fields. These include:
- Cover photo,
- Name,
- Description,
- Folder
- Files, and
- Tag
This document discusses managing the common fields. The fields that are unique to a module are discussed in the module's help page.

An asset can be created in several ways depending on the view you are in.

The following screenshot shows the buttons and corresponding fields that you can edit.
The following section described the common fields and the input requirements.
Update Asset Name
Every asset in Oddapy requires a name to identify it. A meaningful name improves searchability and organization. Here are the rules for Naming an assets:
- Maximum Length: 60 characters
- Allowed Characters: Letters, numbers, symbols, or a combination
- Uniqueness: Name must be unique within the same module
Update the Description
The Description field allows you to add details or notes about an asset. Though optional, it enhances searchability and provides additional context. Rules for descriptions are:
- Optional: You can leave it blank
- Maximum Length: 256 characters
- Allowed Characters: Letters, numbers, symbols, or a combination
Update the Cover Photo
The Cover Photo is a visual representation of an asset. If not provided, Oddapy uses a default image. A few points to note on cover photo:
- Optional: Default image is used if none is uploaded
-
Displayed Prominently:
- In Card View and Waterfall View, it appears as a thumbnail
- In List View, it is shown as an icon
- Optimized for Performance: Uploaded images are automatically resized & optimized
- Storage: Does not count toward your subscription’s storage limit
Cover Photo thumbnails are stored in publicly accessible storage for better app performance. Do not use private or sensitive images as Cover Photos.
Change the Folders
Folders help organize assets into structured groups and are mandatory in certain modules. Folders are known in different names for convenience.
| Module | Folder Name | Folder Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Bookmarks | Collections | ✅ Yes |
| Documents | Folders | ✅ Yes |
| Shopping List | Occasions | ✅ Yes |
| Albums | ❌ Not Used | ❌ No |
| Tasks | ❌ Not Used | ❌ No |
Folders are managed from the Filter Bar in the Explorer and help with better organization and filtering. See Folders to understand how to manage the folders.
Editing Folder
The Folder field is listed in the Module-Specific section of the Asset properties. This field is not available in the Goals and Albums modules, as folders are not used in these two modules. To select a folder, tap the … icon to browse and choose one. Once selected, the asset will be linked to that folder.
Attaching Files to an Asset
You can attach multiple files to any of the assets from the Files section in the Asset Props. Here is how it looks like when empty.
Tap on … to open the file uploader.
Tap the Select Files button to upload files under an asset. Once selected, the files will appear in a list along with basic metadata. To clear the current selection and choose files again, tap the Refresh button.
Tapping the Upload button will begin uploading the selected files to the currently open asset in Asset Props. You can cancel the upload at any time by tapping the X button.
Note: Cancelling will stop the entire batch of files being uploaded, not just a single file.
Keep the screen open while the files are uploading. You will receive a confirmation once the upload is complete.
The file section will look like this once the upload is finished:
You can tap the Context Menu to open the context menu for a file:
To share a file from an asset, select the Share option. Files can only be shared via URL. Refer to Sharing Files via URL for details.
The Download and Delete options perform exactly as their names suggest.
Tagging your asset
Tags add an extra layer of classification to assets, making them easier to search and organize. Tags are created and managed in Tag Manager. Once created, tags are available across all the module. When you are creating an asset, you want to select one or more tag. You can also create a tag when you are selecting them. See the documentation on Tags to learn more. The following is the empty tag section:
Tap … to browse for tags. The following Tag Browser will open
To assign tags to an asset, tap on the tags list to select multiple tags. The selected tags will appear under the Selected Items section. When you're done, tap to assign the tags to the currently open asset in Asset Props. The tags section will then appear as follows:
The tag section with the tags attached to an asset looks like this:
Tap on button in the tags chip to remove a tag from an asset.

The Sharing & Collaboration discusses the process in detail.
Removing Shared Access
If you have shared an asset previously and want to cancel the share, you can delete the share by tapping the button right next to the listed share in the Share Section.
The following several sections of this chapter will discuss the module specific items. All the topic discussed here also applies to all of the modules.
