Contacts represent Oddapy users who are connected to each other. Contacts allow users to connect and share assets securely while maintaining full privacy control. Unlike conventional contact lists, Oddapy ensures that users are not discoverable unless they explicitly choose to share their Connection Handle. Oddapy's Privacy-First approach to everything to ensure that only trusted connections are established.
Privacy-First Approach
Oddapy follows a strict Privacy-First policy to ensure complete control over connections. It follows a passive role when it comes to social networking. Consequently, Oddapy implemented a few exceptional features in it.
- Users cannot search for or discover other Oddapy users.
- Connections require direct consent from both parties. There are no public directories or automatic recommendations mechanism like traditional social networks. In fact, no user can send connection request. Rather they have to contact outside Oddapy and exchange a Connection Handle to connect in Oddapy.
- Users have full control over shared details. The user decides whether their email and phone number are visible when connecting.
This prevents unsolicited connection requests and ensures that users are always in control of their digital space.

How to Add a Contact
Since Oddapy does not allow open user discovery, adding a contact requires both users to take action.
There are two ways to connect, both requiring the Connection Handle from the target user.
Method 1: Using a Connection URL
- The desired contact generates a Connection Handle from their Profile Menu.
- They share the handle via URL (e.g., chat, email, or messaging platforms).
- You log in to Oddapy in a web browser and open the shared URL.
- The connection is instantly established—no additional approval is required.
Method 2: Scanning a QR Code
- Ask the target user to generate a Connection Handle and display the QR code from their Profile Menu.
- On your device, open the Contact Form and tap "Connect".
- Scan the QR code to instantly establish the connection.
Since the target user actively shared their handle, they have already agreed to connect with you.
How Contacts Are Used in Oddapy
Once connected, contacts can be used for two primary purposes:
- Sharing Assets: Share assets directly with contacts, granting permissions like Edit, Delete, Share and/or Download.
- Adding to Groups: Contacts can be added to Groups, allowing for bulk asset sharing and collaboration.
