Oddapy provides an all-in-one player, called the Asset Player, for certain file types. Currently, the supported file types includes audio, video, images and PDF. We are working to add support to all major file types without adding too much external dependency It is not a traditional player. It will run automatically on demand. The Asset Player looks like the following:
Supported file types
The player currently supports the following files:
🎵
Audio files🎞️
Video files🖼️
Image files📄
PDF documentsWe're continually working to support more file formats directly within Oddapy. Currently, if you have any other files formats, you can download the file by tapping on it.
How to run the player?
When you open the Asset Props, you can see the list of files you uploaded under an asset. You can tap on a file to open it. When you are trying to open a file, Oddapy first checks if it’s a supported file or not. If supported, the Asset Player runs and start playing the file.
The Asset Player automatically create a playlist from the list of files in the asset. For example, Let’s say, you have uploaded 30 files in a Albums Asset of which 20 are photos and 10 are video. If you tap on a photo, Asset Player will create a play list of 20 photos. If you tap on a video file, a playlist of 10 video files will be created. Asset Player will automatically start playing the file. Since the play list is prepared and available, you can now navigate in the player.
Navigating the Player
The available commands in the player depends on the file types:
- Audio and Video files have the same set of commands,
- Photos have slightly less commands, and
- PDF file has only one command, that is to close the player.
